Below are just some of the annual events we host that could not be possible without your support.
Recruitment Week Undoubtedly, recruitment week is one of the most important weeks in any sorority's calendar. It is the chance to highlight what makes Sigma Lambda Gamma special and allows us to share a snippet of what sisterhood means to us. Hosting successful recruitment events take a lot of planning, hard work, and dedication, which can at times be halted by expenses. Thankfully Pi Chapter has been lucky enough to have those very type of women over the years as Vice President of Recruitment!
Homecoming Celebration Tents Boulevarding is one the main traditions here at SMU and Gammas are always so excited to join the rest of the campus in celebration of Homecoming! From the burgers to watching the Mustangs give it their all on the field, taking part in the Homecoming festivities allows us to celebrate the university that is our home!
Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Carnival Think Pink is our annual event to end Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. There is cotton candy, popcorn, a cake-walk, music, and an all around good time! We encourage every guest to become more knowledgeable about breast cancer as they make their way around the event. Those who come are also asked to write a motivational letter to a patient currently fighting cancer, which we then deliver to a local hospital to distribute them to patients. This is truly a motivating and inspiring opportunity to experience the optimism and warmth many patients share over a seemingly simple encouraging letter.
Subs 'n Rubs Our annual finals study break event that gives students a chance to relax from the stress of studying for finals. We offer free massages, free sandwiches, a trail mix bar, and study tips. It is one of our most popular events of the Fall semester as we have students from all over campus sign up for free massages! For the last two years this event has been hosted, the sign up for the massages has been filled entirely within 20 minutes!
Women's Empowerment Workshop The goal of the Women's Empowerment Workshop is to help educate high school girls on self-image, resume building, self-defense, and college discussion. Since the founding of this workshop in Spring 2013 by alumnae Cynthia "Lucero" Torres, Pi Chapter has partnered up with high schools all over the Dallas area. Over 100 girls have participated in the Women's Empowerment Workshop and we have heard nothing but positive feedback!
Help us continue to host amazing events for SMU and the Dallas community!
